Alaska Here We Come
Once we got engaged, our minds didn’t go too much into “wedding planning” mode but more into a “where are we going to go for our honeymoon” mode. We have always talked about going to Europe since neither of us have ever been. After talking it over, we figured if we were going to do Europe, we were going to do it big and since we both have full time jobs, it would have been hard to get enough time off to “do Europe right.” So now that we put Europe off for another trip, where to next? ALASKA!
Charlotte being from Florida has always said how she is over it being hot, flat, and too tropical for her. She wanted a severe change in scenery with cooler temperatures. Eric, being the cruise addict he is, always wanted to take an Alaskan cruise because of the outstanding reviews from people he knows or reviews he has seen online. The more we looked into the possibility the more it started becoming reality and we started itching to go on what was going to become a vacation, and honeymoon, of a lifetime.
After all the research and planning we finally had our itinerary ready to go. Our plan was an 16 day journey visiting some mountainous, snow covered destinations the Pacific Northwest had to offer.
A quick summary of our adventure:
- 2 days in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
- 7 day Northbound Inside Passage and Hubbard Glacier cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas
- 7 days with a rental car in mainland Alaska visiting Seward, Anchorage, Talkeetna, and Denali National Park
